RIPON, Wis. -- On a night when Mother Nature dished out some serious punishment in the form of wind and rain, the Lawrence University women's soccer team grabbed a 1-0 Midwest Conference victory over Ripon College at Hopp Stadium.
 Â
Madi Jones' goal late in the first half was the only tally in the match and kept Lawrence's hopes for a Midwest Conference title alive.Â
With one match left to play, Lawrence is tied for first place with Lake Forest College.
With rain pelting the field, Lawrence broke a scoreless tie late in the opening half. Jones scored her third goal of the season off a pass from
Erica Grube to put the Vikings on top.Â
Lawrence (12-4-2, 6-0-1 MWC) posted 19 shots, and held Ripon (4-11-3, 0-6-1) without a shot for the match.Â
  Lawrence goalkeeper
Ella Lysne recorded the shutout, and Ripon's Andreanna Wilke collected six saves.
The Vikings finish the regular season on Saturday when they host Grinnell College. A win would guarantee Lawrence at least a share of the league title.
