APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University football team dropped a 17-14 heartbreaker to Grinnell College on Saturday in a Midwest Conference game on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
  Grinnell kicked a field goal with 11 seconds remaining to break a 14-14 tie and grab the victory.
  Lawrence led 14-7 at the half but the Vikings were unable to cash in on any scoring chances in the second half. The Vikings had a field goal from 29 yards blocked early in the fourth quarter, and Grinnell missed a 39-yard field goal on the ensuing possession.
  Lawrence went three-and-out on the next possession, and Grinnell (1-3, 1-2 MWC) took over at its own 20-yard line. The Pioneers moved to the Lawrence 13, and Nick Rhinehart kicked a 31-yard field goal to win it.
  Lawrence (0-4, 0-3) got the ball back and completed a pair of passes to get to midfield, but quarter
Aidan Williams' desperation heave on the final play was batted down.
  Williams got off to a good start and finished 18-for-26 passing for 211 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
Alex Lippert caught seven passes for 78 yards and a touchdown.
Wellington Jaramillo also caught his first touchdown pass for the Vikings.

Jack Delzer led the Lawrence rushing attack with 16 carries for 57 yards, and
Hunter Carlson added four carries for 28 yards.

Kolbe Gelvin recorded a game-high nine tackles for the Vikings, and
Jon Pasquarello had eight tackles.
Sheldon Watson had seven stops, including 2.0 tackles for loss.
Jahlan Paul intercepted a pass in the end zone for the Vikings for his fourth pick of the season.
  Grinnell scored on the game's opening drive on Lucky Carton's seven-yard run, but the Vikings tied it up on their opening drive.
  Lawrence moved 65 yards in 14 plays for the tying touchdown. Lippert caught a 27-yard pass on the drive, and
Kyle Zumdome had a 22-yard catch to put the ball at the Grinnell 22. Williams hit Jaramillo with a 21-yard scoring pass on a fourth-down play to even the score at 7-7.
  After Paul's interception, Lawrence grabbed the lead late in the opening half. The Vikings moved 80 yards in seven plays for a 14-7 lead. Delzer had a big 25-yard run, and Zumdome caught a 26-yard pass to the Grinnell four-yard line. Williams then hit Lippert on a quick slant for the touchdown and the lead.
  Grinnell scored on its opening drive of the third quarter to tie the game at 14-14.
  Lawrence returns to the Banta Bowl next Saturday to face Lake Forest College.
