APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University football team struggled to get its offense going Saturday, and the University of Chicago pulled away for a 64-14 Midwest Conference win on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
The Maroons held Lawrence to 273 yards of offense, and the Vikings committed four turnovers.
Chicago (5-3, 5-2 MWC) had two 100-yard rushers, and quarterback Teddy Gouldin went 18-for-30 for 121 yards and four touchdowns.
  Lawrence quarterback
Aidan Williams was 15-for-27 for 199 yards and a touchdown.
Alex Lippert posted a 100-yard receiving day with six catches for 122 yards for the Vikings (1-7, 1-6).Â
 Â
Jon Pasquarello led the Lawrence defense with eight tackles, and
Taylen Clinkscales and
Jacob Stanley had seven stops apiece. Cornerback
Jahlan Paul had four pass breakups and added five tackles for the Vikings.
Lawrence got its first touchdown of the day after
Carter Rivers forced a fumble, which was recovered by
Tucker Holmes at the Chicago six-yard line. Two plays later,
Kebron Miles pounded the ball in from six yards out for a touchdown to trim the lead to 14-7 late in the first quarter.
That's as close as the Vikings would get as Chicago pulled away over the next two quarters.Â
The Vikings put together a scoring drive in the fourth quarter with Lippert turning a bubble screen into a 52-yard gain to the Chicago 18-yard line. Williams hit
Kyle Zumdome with a touchdown pass on the next play to cut the lead to 57-14.Â
Lawrence is back at the Banta Bowl next Saturday when the Vikings host Knox College.
