APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team hung with No. 15 Wisconsin Lutheran College for a half on Wednesday, but the Warriors pulled away for a 92-67 nonconference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.
Despite trailing 13-0 to start the game, Lawrence battled back against a veteran squad that features four graduate students, including All-American Ryan Broeckel.Â
 Â
Casey Schoenecker came off the bench to lead Lawrence (1-4) with 17 points as he hit 8-of-13 shots from the floor. Schoenecker added five rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
   Â
Landon Key went 7-for-9 from the floor for the Vikings on his way to 15 points, and he added four rebounds and a block. Rookie
Nolan Koch added nine points for Lawrence as he went 4-for-4 from the floor.Â
After the Warriors' fast start, Lawrence countered with a 16-7 run of its own to trim the lead to 20-16. Lawrence couldn't pull any closer, and Wisconsin Lutheran (4-0) led 38-30 at the half.
Broeckel, who didn't score in the first half, took over after the break for the Warriors. He scored 18 points in the second half and finished with a double-double as he grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds. Jacob Stoltz led Wisconsin Lutheran with 22 points but shot just 9-of-22 from the floor.
Wisconsin Lutheran opened up the lead to 11 points early in the second half, but Schoenecker scored on a layup and Key drilled a 3-pointer to cut the lead back to 47-41. The Warriors scored the game's next seven points and slowly grew the margin from that point.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when the Vikings travel to Martin Luther College.Â
