APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team battled back late Wednesday to grab a 79-73 nonconference victory over Lakeland University at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Lawrence trailed by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter, but the Vikings went on a key 10-2 run to reel in the Muskies.

Charlotte Brennan led Lawrence (2-2) and all scorers with 17 points as she went 3-for-6 from the floor and 11-for-15 from the foul line. Brennan added four rebounds, four steals, two assists and two blocks.

Olivia Kesti came off the bench to score 14 points for the Vikings as she went 6-for-10 from the floor. She also added three rebounds and three steals.
Mallory Meyer added 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals for Lawrence.Â
  A.T. Bartlett led Lakeland (2-3) with 15 points.
  Lawrence trailed 58-49 when
Caroline Sharpe buried a 3-pointer to start a scoring outburst. Kesti then followed with another 3-pointer to trim the lead to 58-55 with 7:14 remaining. After Jenna Caterino countered with a basket for the Muskies, Brennan scored on a driving layup to cut the margin to 60-57. After a Lakeland miss, Kesti's layup finished the scoring run and cut the lead to 60-59.
  The Muskies built the lead back to four at 65-61, but they couldn't shake Lawrence. Free throws from
Maggie Culver and Brennan trimmed the margin to 71-70 with 2:15 remaining, and Lakeland turned it over on its next possession.
  Culver finally gave Lawrence a 72-71 lead on a shot in the paint with 1:37 remaining. The teams traded turnovers and Brennan came up with a steal and was fouled. She converted one free throw, and Lakeland missed a 3-pointer on its next possession. Brennan was fouled again and hit both foul shots for a 75-71 lead with just 38 seconds remaining.
  Lakeland countered with a pair of Caterino free throws, but the shot clock was now off and the Muskies were forced to foul. Brennan was fouled with 17 seconds left and made both free throws for a 77-73 lead. After another Lakeland miss, Brennan tacked on two more free throws for the final margin.
  Lawrence is back in action at home on Friday when the Vikings host Rockford University. Â
