Lawrence shut out at Superior

    SUPERIOR, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dropped a 3-0 nonconference decision to UW-Superior on Friday at the Superior Showdown.
    Lawrence (3-6-1) will face the University of Dubuque in the consolation game on Saturday at Siinto Wessman Arena.
    The Yellowjackets (4-2-1) scored midway through the opening period for a 1-0 lead and then went up 2-0 just 30 seconds into the second period. The score stayed that way until Lawrence pulled its goaltender for an extra attacker late in the third period. Superior added an empty-net goal with two seconds remaining the final margin.
    Lawrence held a 35-30 advantage in shots on goal.
    Lawrence goaltender Nolan Mahaffey made 27 saves, and Superior's Kobe Grant stopped 35 shots.
