BELOIT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's basketball team used a stifling defense Tuesday to roll to a 59-35 Midwest Conference victory over Beloit College at Flood Arena.
Lawrence limited Beloit to just 21.3 percent shooting for the game, and that included 16.7 percent from beyond the arc. The Vikings forced 22 Beloit turnovers. The 35 points is the fewest scored by a Lawrence opponent since the Vikings defeated Grinnell College 86-33 back on Jan. 12, 2002.
 Â
Olivia Kesti came off the bench to lead the Vikings (4-2, 1-0 MWC) with 13 points. Kesti, who also had six rebounds, went 4-for-6 from the floor, including 3-for-4 from 3-point range.Â
  Lawrence's
Sophie Morey added 11 points as she went 5-for-6 from the floor. Morey also had three rebounds, three assists and a pair of blocks.
Mallory Meyer had eight points and three rebounds for the Vikings, and
Maggie Culver added five points and a game-high eight rebounds.
 Â

Charlotte Brennan had six points, five rebounds and three assists.
Johanna McNair and Hailey Johnson had 10 points apiece to lead Beloit (0-8, 0-1). McNair and Johnson were a combined 7-for-15 from the floor, but the rest of the Bucs were just 3-for-32.
The Vikings jumped on the Bucs from the opening tip as Lawrence led 7-1 to start and pushed the advantage 16-6 after the first quarter.
Tanner Bost hit a 3-pointer to start the second quarter for the Vikings, and Lawrence led by as many as 17 points in the first half.
The Vikings were up 33-16 at the half, and Meyer's layup and a Culver 3-pointer, sandwiched around a Beloit basket, gave Lawrence a 38-18 edge early in the third quarter. Lawrence led by as many as 27 at 49-22 in the third quarter.
Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when the Vikings host Grinnell at Alexander Gymnasium.
