APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team dropped a 5-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association decision to No. 5 Aurora University on Friday at the Appleton Ice Center.
  The Vikings tied the game at 1-1 early in the second period, but the Spartans scored twice in the second and two more times in the third to pull away.
  Lawrence trailed 1-0 when the Vikings went on the power play early in the second period when Carson Holliday was whistled for hooking.
  The Vikings cashed in on the power play when
Ethan Beaumont scored his first goal of the season at the 3:52 mark off a pass from
Evan Izenstark to tie the game at 1-1.
  Aurora (7-2-0, 5-2-0 NCHA) scored at the 5:05 mark to grab the lead back and then added another goal with just 1:46 remaining in the period for a 3-1 edge. The Spartans pulled away with a goal midway through the third period and another late in the period.

Nolan Mahaffey stopped 30 shots for the Vikings (3-7-2, 2-4-1). Jacob Mucitello made 16 saves for Aurora.
  The teams wrap up the series at Aurora on Saturday.
