Lawrence grabs home win over Spartans

APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team got a fine performance in net Saturday from Sarah Dobrzynski in a 2-1 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association win over Aurora University at the Champion Center.
Dobrzynski made 48 saves and picked up an assist as the Vikings earned four points in the weekend series with a win and an overtime loss.
The Vikings (4-7-1, 2-5-1 NCHA) trailed 1-0 headed to the second period, but Lawrence scored once in the second and once in the third to secure the win. Aurora's Ellie Visser scored with 41 seconds left in the opening period to put the Spartans ahead.
Lawrence evened the scored less than seven minutes into the second period. Dobrzynski made a save and then sent the puck to Sena Hesegawa, who passed it up the ice to Kate Holtz. Holtz broke past the Aurora defenders and beat goaltender Zoie Campbell at the 6:46 mark to tie the game at 1-1.
The Vikings then grabbed the lead very early in the third period. Reese Deibert cut to the net and took a pass from Hasegawa. Deibert buried it in the back of the net at the 1:47 mark for a 2-1 Lawrence lead.
Aurora (2-6-2, 2-5-1) pulled Campbell with just under two minutes left in regulation, but Dobrzynski made three saves in the final 1:45 to preserve the win. Dobrzynski finished with 18 of her 48 saves in the third period. Campbell stopped 26 shots for the Spartans.
