ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team fell 6-2 to No. 11 Trine University on Saturday, and the Vikings were eliminated from the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association playoffs.
  Lawrence lost both games of the quarterfinal series in the Harris Cup playoffs quarterfinal series.
  Trine (20-7-0) jumped on top with three goals in the opening period before the Vikings rallied, but a pair of goals late in the third period allowed the Thunder to pull away.
  Lawrence (8-17-2) trailed 3-0 heading to the second period, but the Vikings got on the board early in the second.
Kyle Gierman scored on the power play with assists from
Cole Schneider and
Cory Checco at the 6:12 mark to trim the lead to 3-1.
  Trine pushed the lead back to 4-1 with a goal just 19 seconds into the third period, but the Vikings struck back.
Jack Michels scored at the 4:20 mark off a pass from
PJ Noonan to cut the lead to 4-2 and get the Vikings within striking distance.Â
  The Thunder then got two goals from Sam Antenucci in the final 4:49 to seal the victory.

Owen Carlson played the opening period in net for the Vikings and made 12 saves.
Nolan Mahaffey played the final two periods for Lawrence and stopped 25 shots. Cristian Wong-Ramos made 19 saves for the Thunder.
