Vikings shut out in series opener at Marian

    FOND DU LAC, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team dropped a 4-0 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association decision to Marian University on Friday at the Blue Line Ice Center.
    Marian pulled away late with a pair of empty-net goals in the final three minutes.
    The game was scoreless until early in the second period when Sydney Schipper got Marian on the board 3:54 into the period. The score stayed that way until midway through the second when Marian went on 2-0 on Aeryn Olson's goal.
    Marian (8-14-1, 6-9-0 NCHA) sealed the victory with an empty-net goal with 2:58 left, and the Sabres tacked on another empty-netter with 1:24 remaining.
    Sydney Seeley stopped 29 shots for the Vikings (3-20-1, 2-13-0), and Kayla Kolpitcke made 17 saves for the Sabres.
    The team wrap up the series and the regular season on Saturday at the Champion Center.
