MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team delivered the first win for rookie head coach
Jeff Van Lannen on Friday.
  Lawrence rolled to a 3-0 nonconference victory over Alverno College at the Blue Angel Bash at the Bloechl Center. The Vikings downed Alverno 25-16, 25-14, 25-14.
  Van Lannen, who has piled up hundreds of victories at other levels in the sport, got his first win as a collegiate head coach.Â
  A pair of first-year players,
Hazel Cook and
Margaret Hahnke, led the attack for the Vikings. Cook had 12 kills without an error in 22 attempts for a sizzling .545 hitting percentage. She added six aces and five digs. Hahnke also picked up 12 kills to go with eight digs and three aces.
  Lawrence setter
Cora Linos picked up 18 assists for the Vikings, and
Daphne Piotrowski had a match-high 11 digs.Â

Mikala Seymour hammered out six kills in seven attacks for the Vikings, and
Hilirie McLaughlin added seven digs.
