Wild final minute nets Vikings tie with Marian

APPLETON, Wis. -- Two goals were scored in the final minute Sunday as the Lawrence University men's soccer team forged a 2-2 nonconference tie with Marian University.
Lawrence scored with 41 seconds left to take the lead, and Marian scored with 14 seconds left to tie it on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Marian (1-1-2) led 1-0 but the Vikings tied it in the 69th minute.
Emiliana Garcia Fadanalli took a pass from Aidan Greer and hit a rocket into the upper corner of the net to tie the match at 1-1 at 68:09.
The Vikings kept the pressure on the Sabres and took the lead in the final minute. Greer passed the ball to Rodrigo Angulo, who blasted a shot from long range past Marian goalkeeper Nathan Espinosa to put the Vikings up 2-1.
Marian pushed the ball down the field and got a throw-in with just over 20 seconds left. A pass into the box was headed away by a Lawrence defender, but Hudson Shenk's shot found the back of the net to tie the score at 2-2.
Nason Lancina made three saves to get the tie for the Vikings (0-2-2). Espinosa stopped seven shots for the Sabres.
Lawrence had a 19-11 edge in shots for the match.
The Vikings return to action Wednesday at Illinois Tech.
