APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's hockey team skated to a 1-1 overtime tie with Marian University on Friday in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Champion Center.
The Sabres pulled out a 1-0 win in the shootout to pick up an extra point in the league standings.
Marian (5-11-2, 3-6-2 NCHA) grabbed the lead just 4:52 into the game on Jadyn Gorski's unassisted goal.Â
The score stayed that way until early in the second when the Vikings (6-10-2, 3-6-2) were on the penalty kill. After
Meg Landman got sent off for roughing, the Viking penalty killers turned the tables on Marian.
 Â
Aislinn O'Hagan created the offensive chance, and it was rookie
Leina Quiniou who beat Marian goaltender Sydney Magnuson for a short-handed goal at the 3:32 mark to tie the game at 1-1.Â
Marian went 0-for-5 on the power play, and the Vikings were 0-for-2.
The score stayed that way through the end of regulation and neither team was able to score in the overtime. Marian's Jennarae Bateman scored in the first round of the shootout, and that was the only tally by either team.
The teams wrap up the series on Saturday at Marian.
