Vikings shutout Lady Blues to clinch 3rd consecutive trip to Midwest Conference tournament

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. — Lawrence University (8-4-6, 4-1-2) secured a decisive 3-0 victory over Illinois College (10-7-2, 6-2-0) on Saturday at England Stadium, highlighted by a shutout performance from the Lawrence goalkeeper Ally LittauĀ with four saves. With this win, Lawrence clinched a conference tournament berth for the 3rd consecutive season.

Lawrence opened the first half assertively with a goal by Hannah Kalt in the 4th minute, assisted by Elena Hartung, giving them an early lead over Illinois College. At the 16th minute, Kylie Melonis extended Lawrence's advantage with another goal, bringing the score to 2-0. Illinois College attempted to respond with several shots, but Ally Littau made crucial saves, preserving the visitors' lead. The half concluded with Lawrence ahead 2-0.

Lawrence extended their lead in the second half with a decisive goal by Renate Hramiec in the 67th minute, bringing the score to 3-0. Littau played a crucial role in maintaining the advantage by saving two shots, first from Abbi Renwick and later from Aliza Rodriguez. The game ended with the Vikings holding a commanding 3-0 victory.

With today's win the Vikings are heading back to the Midwest Conference tournament looking for similar results from a year ago where they were able to win the conference tournament and secure the autmatic bid to the NCAA National TournamentĀ
