APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence (4-0, 0-0 Midwest Conference) defeated Rockford University (0-3, 0-0 NACC), 89-26, at Alexander Gym, dominating with 48 rebounds and 15 steals.
Lawrence started the first quarter with a strong offensive performance, quickly establishing a lead with a three-pointer by
Kate Adams at 9:35, assisted by
Charlotte Brennan. The Vikings continued to extend their advantage with another three-pointer from Adams, and
Josie Eager added two more from beyond the arc. Rockford struggled offensively, scoring only six points in the quarter, four of which came from inside the paint. The home team maintained control throughout, with
Sophie Morey and Brennan contributing to a 25-6 lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Lawrence capitalized on turnovers to extend their lead over the Regents. Brennan was instrumental, contributing with a steal and an assist, followed by a fast-break layup at 8:52 that pushed the score to 32-6.
Abby Talbot dominated the offensive boards early, converting her own missed tip-in for a basket at 9:23. Lawrence dominated the final quarter, outscoring Rockford 24-2 to secure a decisive victory. Brennan started the period by sinking two free throws, extending the lead to 67-24.
Shelby Eaton's three-pointer at 6:40 and
Josie Chose's jumper at 6:00 fueled the Vikings' momentum.
Alena Vondracek added a three-pointer at the 2:00 mark, and
Olivia Kesti's tip-in with 19 seconds remaining capped off the scoring. Rockford struggled offensively, managing only two points from the free-throw line and failing to make a field goal in the quarter.
