APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University fell to Ripon College, 3-1, on Saturday in the conference season finale at The Banta Bowl.
Ripon took an early lead in the first half with a goal from Finley Manning in the 29th minute. Lawrence's defense, anchored by goalkeeper
Nason Lancina, faced consistent pressure, making three crucial saves, including a shot from Isaac Kushner in the 44th minute. Despite earning three corner kicks, Lawrence was unable to convert, closing the half trailing 1-0.
Ripon capitalized early in the second half with a goal from Matthew Hegge in the 60th minute, extending their lead to 2-0. The Vikings responded in the 74th minute with
William Mikkelsen scoring off an assist from
Eamon Rougvie, narrowing the gap to 2-1. Despite a strong defensive effort, including a penalty save by Lancina, Ripon secured the win with a penalty kick goal by Manning in the 85th minute, finishing the match ahead 3-1.
Lancina recorded 11 saves while facing 25 shots, highlighting his active role in goal. Mikkelsen scored once from his single shot on target. Rougvie contributed an assist and led the team with three shots and three shots on goal.
