Hramiec's late goal sends Lawrence back to Midwest Conference Tournament Finals

LAKE FOREST, Ill. — Lawrence (10-4-6, 5-1-2) secured a 1-0 victory over Illinois College (10-8-2, 6-2-0) on neutral ground at Mohr Field, with the lone goal coming in the second half by first year Renate Hramiec.Ā

The match between Lawrence and Illinois College began with Lawrence's Ally Littau and Illinois College's Stella Gonzalez in goal. The first half saw Illinois College take an early offensive stance with multiple corner kicks and shots, including a shot by McKenzie Murray at 6:46 that went out left. Lawrence's defense held strong, with Littau making a critical save on Olivia Hulsey's shot in the 28th minute. Both teams faced offside calls and fouls, but neither side was able to convert their opportunities into goals, ending the half scoreless.

Renate Hramiec scored the decisive goal for the Vikings in the 72nd minute, with an assist from Elena Hartung, leading to a 1-0 victory over the Lady Blues. Lawrence's Ava Elders and Maddie Schellinger each had shots saved by Gonzalez, with Elders' attempt in the 71st minute nearly increasing Lawrence's lead. Illinois College generated offensive opportunities including a corner kick in the 59th minute and a shot from Lexi Van Dyke that went wide. Lawrence's defense, backed by Littau's key save against Abby Love's shot in the 76th minute, ensured the shutout.

Lawrence will compete in the Midwest Conference Tournament Championship tomorrow after noon against host school Lake Forest. The Vikings are looking to repeat as tournament champions and punch their ticket back to nationals.Ā
