GENEVA, Ill. — Lawrence University (0-11-0, 0-7-0) fell to Aurora University (3-8-0, 1-6-0), 1-0, on Friday at Geneva. Despite outshooting Aurora in the third period, the Vikings could not find the back of the net, while Aurora's lone goal in the second period secured the win.
The first period began with Lawrence University setting the tone by winning the opening faceoff through
Meg Landman.
Sarah Dobrzynski was active in goal, making several saves to keep Aurora off the scoreboard. Lawrence displayed solid defensive efforts, including a significant block by
Sena Hasegawa on a shot from Teagan Moffat.
Lawrence had opportunities to capitalize, especially during a power play following a high-sticking penalty on Aurora's Courtney Docktor. Despite multiple attempts, including shots from
Emmerson Berger and Landman, they were unable to find the net. The period concluded scoreless, with both teams locked at 0–0.
Lawrence University opened the second period with a successful faceoff win by Landman, setting a strong tone. Despite Aurora's offensive efforts, Dobrzynski made multiple saves to keep the game close. A brief power play for Lawrence followed an empty-net goal by Aurora, but the team was unable to capitalize, with several missed attempts.
As the period continued, Lawrence maintained pressure with shots from
Evelyn Pryadkin, Berger, and Hasegawa, but Aurora's defense held firm. Lawrence managed to secure multiple faceoff wins, yet the score remained unchanged. The period ended with Lawrence trailing 1–0, keeping them within reach for the final period.
Lawrence University entered the third period trailing by a single goal. The team applied pressure early with
