DETROIT, Mich. -- The Lawrence University men's fencing team grabbed third place overall Saturday at the Central Collegiate Fencing Conference Championships at the Matthaei Center.
  The Vikings finished 2-2 and Ohio State won the title with a 4-0 record. The Vikings were edged for second place by Wayne State after the Warriors nipped Lawrence 14-13 during their dual match. Lawrence finished second in saber, took third in foil and finished fourth in epee.Â
    On the women's side, Lawrence finished fourth after posting a 3-3 record. Ohio State won the team title after posting a perfect 6-0 record. Lawrence women's saber took fourth, foil finished fifth and epee was sixth. Â
  Men's saber took the runner-up spot after scoring 24 victories. Ohio State edged the Vikings for the saber gold with 28 wins. Men's foil finished with 21 wins to take third, and Ohio State grabbed first with 34. Men's epee took fourth with 16 victories, and Ohio State was first with 28.Â
  Saber led the way for the Lawrence women with 28 victories on its way to fourth place, and Northwestern took first with 44. Women's foil finished fifth with 19 wins, and Ohio State took the top spot with 46. Women's epee was sixth with 14 victories, and Northwestern was first with 41.
