Herr nets six, but Vikings' rally falls short at Edgewood

MADISON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's lacrosse team rallied late Wednesday but came up short in a 13-10 Northern Collegiate Athletics Conference setback to Edgewood College at Reddan Park.
Brody Herr scored six times for Lawrence (3-7, 1-4 NACC), and Iori Yamada added three goals with Judah Goehring picking up three assists.
The Vikings were down 12-5 with just over five minutes remaining in the game before an offensive surge.
Herr started the rally with a goal with 5:05 left to cut the lead to 12-6. Herr then scored off an assist from Camden Waters on an extra-man opportunity less than a minute later to trim the deficit to five goals.
Yamada picked up his second goal of the night just 34 seconds later to cut the lead to 12-8. Emmett Eischens then scored for the Vikings with 2:59 remaining off a pass from Goehring to trim the margin to 12-9. Lawrence continued the pressure as Yamada scored again on an extra-man opportunity off a pass from Goehring with just 2:22 left.
Edgewood (3-6, 2-3) finally slowed the rally and held the Vikings scoreless for the rest of the game.
Lawrence goalie Gavin Reiter made 12 saves for the Vikings, and Logan Searles stopped seven shots for the Eagles.
Edgewood had a 46-35 edge in shots, and Lawrence posted a 42-37 advantage in ground balls.
