Lawrence women grab second in all-sport standings

Women's soccer celebrates after clinching the 2024 Midwest Conference championship.
    APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's athletic teams posted a second-place finish in the Midwest Conference all-sport standings after a pair of league championships in the 2024-25 academic year.
    Lawrence finished with 52 points across nine sports contested in the Midwest Conference. Grinnell College finished first with 64.5 points.
    The Vikings won a pair of conference titles during the fall season.
    Women's soccer won the Midwest Conference crown with a 7-0-1 record in league play. Lawrence went on to win the Midwest Conference Tournament and compete in the NCAA Division III Tournament. Lawrence finished with a 15-5-2 overall record.
    Women's cross country also claimed the title at the Midwest Conference Championships. The Vikings won the league crown for the second time in four years, and Lawrence's Cristyn Oliver became the first runner in league history to win three individual titles.
    Lawrence had two other women's teams that competed in their respective conference tournaments. Women's basketball finished second in the regular season and made the Midwest Conference Tournament for the second consecutive year. Lawrence finished with an 18-8 overall record. Softball finished third in the regular season with a 10-6 conference record and earned a Midwest Conference Tournament berth for the first time since 2015. Under first-year coach and Lawrence alumnus Korey Krueger, the Vikings 19 victories, the most in a season since 2015.
    This was the highest finish for the Lawrence women since the Vikings took third back in 2002-03. Lawrence won its last all-sport title in 2001-02.
    On the men's side, Lawrence finished seventh with 36.5 points, and Grinnell was first with 54.
    Baseball was the top finisher among the Lawrence men as it won its second consecutive Midwest Conference championship under first-year head coach Trent Whitcomb. Men's cross country was next as the Vikings finished second at the league championships.
