Lawrence can't hold on against Grinnell

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Lawrence University softball team gave up the tying run in the seventh Friday and went on to drop a 9-5 decision to Grinnell College in an elimination game at the Midwest Conference Tournament.
Lawrence went 0-2 in first trip to the MWC Tournament since 2015.
The Vikings led 5-4 heading to the top of the seventh, but a pair of errors allowed Grinnell (13-29) to push across the tying run.
Grinnell's Hannah Dykstra then hit a three-run homer in the eighth as the PIoneers pulled away.
Taylor Hughes and Gillian Guerriero both went 2-for-3 for the Vikings (19-21).
Georgia Sedlack took a tough loss as she allowed five runs, none earned, on just three hits in 3.1 innings of relief.
Lawrence scored twice in the second, added a run in the fourth and two more in the fifth to carve out a 5-4 lead. Mattigan Haller blasted her 10th home run of the season in the fifth.
