DE PERE, Wis. -- The Lawrence University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 nonconference decision to Lakeland University in the season opener on Friday at the Chick-fil-A Invitational at St. Norbert College.
  Lakeland defeated the Vikings 9-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22 at the Mulva Center.
  Lawrence blitzed the Muskies in the opening set by jumping out to a 12-4 lead and cruising to the win. Lawrence led the second set 21-20 before Lakeland scored five of the next seven points to even the match at 1-1. In the third set, Lawrence had trimmed Lakeland's lead to 22-21 before the Muskies scored the next three points. Lakeland led 23-18 in the fourth set before the Vikings scored three straight points to cut the lead to 23-21. The teams then traded the next three points as Lakeland closed out the match.

Margaret Hahnke paced Lawrence with 19 kills, and she picked up 15 digs for the Vikings. First-year
Audrey Weier picked up 16 kills and hit .406 in her first collegiate match for Lawrence.Â

Ally Corrente piled up a match-high 40 assists for Lawrence and picked up 16 digs.
Hazel Cook added eight kills for the Vikings, and
Aria Wessel had a team-high 19 digs in her first collegiate match.
