APPLETON, Wis. ā The Lawrence University cross country teams turned in a pair of runner-up finishes Saturday at the Gene Davis Invitational, with both the women's and men's teams placing second in their respective races.
The Lawrence women scored 54 points in the 6,000-meter race, finishing just four points behind team champion St. Norbert. The men totaled 57 points in the 8,000-meter race to finish second behind St. Norbert, which won with 46 points.
WOMEN'S 6,000 METERS
Lillian Courtnage-Dyke led Lawrence with a second-place finish, completing the race in 22:19.7. Mila Westra finished sixth in 22:58.6, while Griyan Hughland placed ninth in 23:23.6 to give the Vikings three runners in the top 10.
Ella Nichelson crossed the line in 25:09.3 to finish 33rd, and Laura Henze rounded out the scoring five in 37th place with a time of 25:25.0. Annabelle Gerrits finished 54th in 26:24.3, followed by Lydia Shaney in 62nd in 26:40.6 and Rachel Fleck in 65th in 26:50.1.
MEN'S 8,000 METERS
Ryan Cassiday paced the Lawrence men with an 11th-place finish in 26:34.2. Zach Meyer followed in 16th place in 26:42.5, and Nick Hansen finished 19th in 26:56.4. Noah Zhang placed 21st in 27:03.6, while Finn Walston completed the scoring five in 32nd place in 27:30.5.
Gabe Gross finished 34th in 27:32.0, followed by Tristen Gray in 46th in 28:02.4. Jaxson Meyer placed 55th in 28:09.6, Leigham Alexander finished 56th in 28:10.3, and Max Reemtsma crossed in 59th in 28:18.7.
Jasper Hansen-Terry finished 60th in 28:23.0, followed by Reuben Keuler in 62nd in 28:26.3 and Sebastian Woodrich in 65th in 28:32.7. Elek Anderson placed 87th in 29:20.9, Josh Anderson finished 89th in 29:27.2, and Jack Farmer crossed in 98th in 29:46.7. Sam Meier finished 106th in 30:10.2, Ryan Draginis placed 121st in 31:33.6, Will Beaumont finished 134th in 32:51.8, and Wesley Wiesner placed 146th in 34:53.7.
