RIPON, Wis. — The Lawrence University men's soccer team made history Saturday, defeating Ripon College 4-1 at Hopp Stadium to secure its first Midwest Conference Tournament berth since 2021 and match the program's single-season wins record.
The Vikings improved to 10-4-2 with the victory, reaching 10 wins for the first time since 1985. The 2026 squad matches the program record established by the 1985 team, which finished 10-2.
Quill Tegenfeldt-Pfohman led the Lawrence attack with two goals and an assist. He helped open the scoring in the 12th minute, setting up William Plougmand Mikkelsen for the game's first goal. Tegenfeldt-Pfohman doubled the advantage in the 21st minute, finishing a pass from Issac Newcomb.
Ripon cut the lead to 2-1 in the 31st minute, and the Vikings carried that advantage into halftime. Both teams recorded nine shots in the opening half, with Cristian Puebla making four saves to keep Lawrence in front.
Lawrence added some breathing room in the 77th minute when Tegenfeldt-Pfohman scored his second goal of the afternoon off an assist from Pablo Silveira. Juchan Yang capped the scoring with an unassisted goal in the 90th minute to seal the 4-1 victory.
The Vikings finished with 17 shots, including 14 on goal, while Ripon recorded 18 shots and 10 on target. Puebla finished with seven saves, and Mikkelsen led Lawrence with six shots, five of which were on goal.
Saturday's victory capped a landmark regular season for Lawrence, which returns to the Midwest Conference Tournament after a five-year absence.
