Viking season comes to a end in shutout loss to St.Norbert

APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University (6-18-1, 1-16-1) was defeated by St. Norbert College (17-6-2, 13-3-2) with a final score of 5-0. The Green Knights capitalized on their power play opportunities, scoring one power play goal during the game.

Lawrence began the game by winning the opening faceoff, setting an assertive tone early in the period. Despite multiple shot attempts from Jayden Jensen and Robby Pustulka, the Vikings were unable to capitalize on their offensive opportunities. The Green Knights broke through at 3:26 with a goal from Ryan Gingher, assisted by T.J. Koufis and Curtis Hammond, putting them ahead.

Collin Lemanski in goal for Lawrence faced a barrage of shots throughout the period, successfully saving many attempts and keeping the game within reach. The first period concluded with Lawrence trailing 1–0, poised for a competitive continuation in the subsequent periods.

St. Norbert widened its lead with two goals in the second period against Lawrence. The period began with Lawrence creating shooting opportunities, but St. Norbert's defense, led by Hunter Garvey, kept the home team from finding the net. A pivotal moment occurred midway when Gustav Portillo scored at even strength, with assists from Dayton Deics and Landon Fleming, putting the visitors up by three.

Despite a power play advantage, Lawrence was unable to capitalize, and St. Norbert extended its lead further with a late power-play goal by Blake Ulve, assisted by Portillo and Ethan Byrne. Lawrence ended the period trailing 3-0, needing to regroup for the final frame.

Lawrence opened the third period with several attempts to shift the momentum, including a power play opportunity at 13:16. Despite controlled play and shots from Ethan Look and Pustulka, the Vikings were unable to convert. The Green Knights capitalized on their even-strength play, extending their lead with a goal from Ben Edwards at 10:30.

Lawrence continued to pressure with another power play at 10:08, though the defense of St. Norbert held firm. As time wound down, Braydon Beahm of the Green Knights added an unassisted goal at 00:47, further widening the gap and ultimately falling in the final game of the season.
