APPLETON, Wis. — Lawrence University (20-5, 13-3 Midwest Conference) defeated Knox College (13-12, 11-5 Midwest Conference) 71-47 at Alexander Gym on Saturday with a dominant defensive performance, forcing 30 turnovers and recording 19 steals. This victory marked a historic milestone for Lawrence, as they became the first team in the program's history to win 20 games in a season.
The game began with the Vikings struggling to find the basket, allowing the Prairie Fire to take an early 8–2 lead. However, the Vikings quickly regained momentum with efficient scoring in the paint, highlighted by a fast-break layup from
Sophie Morey at 4:04 to seize the lead. Their defense also played a crucial role, forcing turnovers and converting them into points. By the end of the first quarter, the Vikings led 17–12.
Lawrence took control early in the second quarter with a strong 11-2 run, initiated by Morey's assist to
Josie Eager for a jumper at 8:29.
Charlotte Brennan's layup and free throw at 7:53 extended the lead further.
Kate Adams and Eager each drained a 3-pointer, bolstering Lawrence's momentum and resulting in a 12-point advantage at 6:46. Despite Knox's attempts to close the gap, the Vikings maintained defensive pressure, holding the Prairie Fire to just 14 points in the quarter. They ended the quarter leading 37-26.
Lawrence shifted momentum decisively in the third quarter, capitalizing on Knox's turnovers to score 10 points off turnovers. Adams led the charge with multiple key plays, including a layup at 9:38 and a three-point play at 7:47, extending the lead.
Olivia Kesti contributed both defensively and offensively, adding a fast-break layup at 6:27. The Vikings' defense was formidable, limiting Knox to just five points in the quarter. The quarter ended with Lawrence leading 53–31.
In the final quarter, Lawrence maintained its lead with crucial plays, highlighted by Adams' 3-pointer at 8:14, pushing the score to 60-33. The Vikings effectively capitalized on Knox's turnovers, with Eager contributing a layup at 1:58, followed by a successful free throw to extend the lead. The Vikings would go on to win the contest and secure the programs first ever 20-win season.

Charlotte Brennan has set the new single season assist record breaking the mark set by Tracie Spangenberg. Her total now stands at 118 assist for the season and with the Midwest Conference Tournament approaching she will look to add to that mark.
