DUBUQUE, Iowa — Lawrence University (6-15-1, 1-13-1) fell to the University of Dubuque (5-15-2, 2-11-2), 3–1, in a league game at Dubuque on Saturday. The Vikings' lone goal came on a power play in the second period.
The first period began with Lawrence gaining initial possession as
Ethan Look won the opening faceoff against Dubuque's Nikita Borodaenko. Despite an early tripping penalty on
Cristian Tallarico, the Vikings' defense, led by
Nolan Mahaffey's saves, held strong against the Dubuque power play. However, Dubuque took a 1-0 lead at 15:12 with a goal by Nolan Underwood, assisted by Andon Coles and Kaden Dundas.
Lawrence countered with multiple shot attempts from
Kenny Sutton and
PJ Noonan but could not find the back of the net. A subsequent power play for the Vikings saw
Michael Valdez and
Jayden Jensen testing Dubuque's goaltender, but the team remained scoreless. Dubuque extended their advantage with a second goal at 5:09 by Borodaenko, assisted by Zach Cline and Brandon Rossetti. The period closed with Dubuque leading 2-0, as Lawrence continued to seek scoring opportunities.
Dubuque initiated the second period with a power-play goal by Jack Paweski, assisted by Underwood and Coles, extending their lead early on. Despite several attempts from Lawrence, including shots by

Robby Pustulka, Dubuque's defense held firm with goaltender Prestyn Carter making critical saves.

Midway through the period, Lawrence's defense, led by goalie Mahaffey, was steadfast, stopping multiple attempts from Dubuque, including a critical save on a shot by Tyler Dale. With time winding down, Lawrence pulled their goalie for an extra attacker and continued to press offensively. However, Dubuque's defense held firm and secured the win over the Vikings.
