Solberg Scores Twice as Lawrence Drops Tight Contest

Tacoma, Wash. — The Lawrence University women's lacrosse team battled into the final minutes Monday, but Pacific Lutheran pulled away late for a 7-5 win over the Vikings.

Lawrence stayed within striking distance throughout the afternoon and got a balanced scoring effort, with Annika Solberg leading the way with two goals. Savannah Larsen, Emma Perry and Evelyn Pryadkin each added a goal for the Vikings, while Mackenzie Igel-Harri paced the offense with two assists. Bella Krull-Collins also recorded an assist.

The Vikings struck first when Solberg found the net off a feed from Igel-Harri with 7:22 left in the opening quarter, giving Lawrence an early 1-0 edge. Pacific Lutheran answered with a pair of goals in the second period to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Lawrence evened the score in the third quarter when Perry scored off another assist from Igel-Harri with 7:30 remaining, but Pacific Lutheran answered just over six minutes later to carry a 3-2 lead into the fourth.

The Lutes built their advantage early in the final quarter, scoring twice to push the margin to 5-2. Lawrence responded with a free-position goal from Pryadkin, set up by Krull-Collins, and later got within 6-4 on Larsen's goal off an assist from Perry with 3:19 to play. After Pacific Lutheran added another goal with 2:27 remaining, Solberg scored again just 20 seconds later to bring the Vikings back within two, but Lawrence could not get any closer.
