Verona, Wisconsin — The Lawrence University women's lacrosse team opened conference play on Saturday afternoon, falling 14-2 to Edgewood University at Reddan Park.
The Vikings struck early, with Annika Solberg scoring both goals for Lawrence in the opening quarter to keep things competitive. However, Edgewood responded with a strong offensive push, building a 9-2 halftime lead.
Despite a defensive effort that included 25 ground balls and 10 saves, Lawrence was unable to generate additional scoring opportunities. The Eagles controlled possession throughout, outshooting the Vikings 30-12 and holding a significant edge in draw controls.
Reese Deibert recorded the lone assist for Lawrence, connecting on one of Solberg's early goals.
Lawrence continued to battle defensively in the second half, but Edgewood added five more goals to secure the conference victory.
