Alfaro Drives in Three as Vikings Top Blackburn 7–5

CHATHAM, Ill. — The Lawrence University softball team bounced back in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader, defeating Blackburn College 7–5 to earn a split on the day.

After Blackburn struck first in the second inning, Lawrence answered with a big third inning to take the lead. Isabella Alfaro delivered a two-run single to score Gillian Guerriero and Anitza Gutierrez, and Shelby Rozak followed with an RBI double to push the Vikings in front 3–1.

Blackburn responded with a four-run fourth inning to reclaim the lead at 5–3. Sierra Hiser highlighted the rally with a two-run triple before the Beavers added two more runs later in the inning.

Lawrence chipped away in the fifth inning when Rozak drove in Gutierrez with a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 5–4. The Vikings then surged back in the sixth inning with three runs to take control of the game. Gutierrez delivered a two-run single that brought home Sajel Stewart-Verna and Lillian Guidry, and Alfaro followed with another RBI single to give Lawrence a 7–5 advantage.

Gutierrez led the Vikings offensively with two hits, three runs scored, and two RBIs, while Alfaro also drove in three runs on two hits. Rozak added two RBIs and a double as Lawrence finished with nine hits in the contest.

In the circle, Georgia Sedlack started for the Vikings before Kylan Arndt came on in relief and tossed 3.1 scoreless innings to secure the victory.
