EUREKA, Ill. — The Lawrence University softball team exploded offensively in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, rolling to a 21–6 victory over Eureka College.
The Vikings wasted no time getting started, scoring six runs in the opening inning. Isabella Alfaro delivered a two-run single to put Lawrence on the board, Sajel Stewart-Verna added an RBI single, and Adrie Villa followed with a two-run single before stealing home to cap the inning and give the Vikings a commanding early lead.
Lawrence added six more runs in the third inning to extend the lead to 12–2. Zoe Doherty highlighted the rally with a three-run home run to left field after Callie Rozak and Ava Pilgrim reached base earlier in the inning.
Eureka responded with four runs in the bottom of the third, including a three-run home run by Ashlyn Voyles, but the Vikings quickly regained control of the game.
Lawrence sealed the win with a massive nine-run sixth inning. The Vikings strung together multiple hits during the rally, including RBI singles from Callie Rozak and Janna Bode, a run-scoring double from Gillian Guerriero, and a two-run double by Lillian Guidry as the lead grew to 21–6.
The Vikings finished with 16 hits in the game. Doherty drove in four runs, Villa added three RBIs, while Alfaro, Rozak, and Guidry each recorded multiple RBIs in the offensive outburst.
Georgia Sedlack earned the win in the circle for Lawrence, and Kylan Arndt provided two innings of scoreless relief to close out the victory.
