Appleton, Wisconsin — The Lawrence University women's lacrosse team faced a strong Aurora University squad on Saturday, falling 17-0 in conference action at home.
Aurora established control early, scoring four goals in the opening quarter before extending its lead to 10-0 by halftime. The Spartans continued to apply pressure in the second half, finishing with a 34-11 advantage in shots.
Despite the scoreline, the Vikings showed effort defensively and in possession play. Lawrence collected 15 ground balls and matched Aurora's physical play throughout stretches of the contest.
In goal, Lawrence recorded seven saves, including several key stops that prevented additional scoring runs and helped the Vikings battle through heavy offensive pressure.
Aurora controlled the draw throughout the game, winning 14 draw controls compared to three for Lawrence, which contributed to extended possessions for the visitors.
The Vikings continued to compete through all four quarters, working to generate opportunities offensively while holding firm defensively against a high-powered Aurora attack.
