Appleton, Wisconsin — Lawrence men's lacrosse battled throughout but fell to MSOE, 20-8, Wednesday evening in NACC action at the Banta Bowl.
After a tough opening stretch that saw MSOE jump out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter, the Vikings responded late in the period with a goal from Judah Goehring to get on the board and begin building momentum.
Lawrence found a rhythm in the second quarter, stringing together a 3-0 run behind two goals from Brody Herr and another from Henry Fischer to cut into the deficit. The Vikings showed flashes offensively, moving the ball well and capitalizing on key possessions to stay within reach.
Fischer led the Lawrence attack with a strong all-around performance, tallying two goals and two assists, while Herr added two goals and an assist. Goehring also contributed a pair of goals, and Emmett Eischens and Robbie Spielmann each found the back of the net.Â
Despite the offensive effort, MSOE continued to apply pressure, using a high-volume attack that produced 52 shots and controlled possession at the faceoff X. Â Defensively, Tyler Graham turned in a standout performance in goal, recording 20 saves while facing constant pressure throughout the contest. Â Lawrence continued to compete into the fourth quarter, adding a late goal from Spielmann, but MSOE maintained control down the stretch.
