Appleton, Wisconsin — The Lawrence University women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-4 decision to Illinois Tech on Saturday afternoon.
Illinois Tech jumped out early, scoring three goals in the first quarter to take control. Lawrence responded in the second with goals from Emmerson Berger and Sophia Labrecque to cut into the deficit, but the Scarlet Hawks answered with a late push to carry a 5-2 lead into halftime.
The visitors continued to build momentum in the second half, powered by a dominant performance from Antonia Martinez, who finished with eight goals. Lawrence found moments offensively in the fourth quarter with goals from Emma Perry and Mackenzie Igel-Harri, but Illinois Tech closed the game with a flurry to seal the win.
Berger, Labrecque, Perry, and Igel-Harri each scored for the Vikings, while Emma Berg made six saves in goal.
Illinois Tech held advantages in draw controls (11-5) and ground balls (23-14), limiting Lawrence's opportunities throughout the contest.Â
