Mount Vernon, Iowa — The Lawrence University women's lacrosse team showed resilience with a second-half push but ultimately fell 7-4 to Cornell College on Wednesday evening.
The Vikings found themselves in an early deficit, as Cornell jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the opening quarter. Lawrence settled in defensively and began to generate opportunities, breaking through in the second quarter when Evelyn Pryadkin scored to get the Vikings on the board.
Lawrence's momentum carried into the third quarter, where the Vikings mounted an impressive rally. Goals from Sophia Labrecque, Pryadkin, and Annika Solberg brought the game even at 4-4, showcasing Lawrence's ability to respond under pressure.
However, Cornell answered quickly, scoring twice late in the third quarter to regain control before adding an insurance goal in the fourth.
Pryadkin led Lawrence with two goals, while Labrecque and Solberg each added one. Savannah Larsen recorded an assist in the effort.
In goal, Emma Berg delivered a strong performance with 13 saves, keeping Lawrence within striking distance throughout the contest.
Despite being outshot overall, the Vikings showed grit and composure during their comeback run, highlighting continued growth as they move forward in conference play.
