Grinnell, Iowa-- Lawrence University softball jumped out to an early lead but couldn't hold off Grinnell, falling 9-3 in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.

The Vikings struck first in the opening inning, taking a 2-0 lead behind aggressive baserunning and situational hitting. Gillian Guerriero came around to score after swiping second, and Isabella Alfaro added an RBI to give Lawrence early momentum.

Grinnell responded quickly, tying the game in the first before taking control with multi-run innings in the third, fourth, and fifth. A three-run fourth and two-run fifth helped the hosts build a 9-2 advantage.

Lawrence continued to compete late, adding a run in the seventh, but the comeback fell short.

Callie Rozak led the Vikings offensively with two hits, while Ava Pilgrim and Adrie Villa also recorded hits.
