Appleton native Luke Watson handles the pitching staff for Lawrence University.
Watson, a graduate of Xavier High School, was a standout collegiate and prep pitcher. A 2014 graduate of UW-Stevens Point, Watson earned bachelor's degrees in business administration/finance and economics. He played two seasons for the Pointers before his career was cut short by injury.
Watson earned third-team All-America honors from both D3baseball.com and the American Baseball Coaches Association in 2014. He was named both Midwest Region Pitcher of the Year and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year in 2014. He also earned a pair of victories in the 2014 NCAA Regional.
Watson was a key pitcher for UW-Stevens Point in its 2013 run to the NCAA Division III World Series, which was played here in Appleton at Fox Cities Stadium. Watson earned two victories and a save as Stevens Point won the NCAA Midwest Regional. He finished his career with the Pointers with a 10-1 record.
Watson began his collegiate career at Carthage College and played on season in Kenosha. He went 3-0 for Carthage and earned a victory at the NCAA Central Regional.
Watson earned All-Eastern Valley Conference honors in baseball for Xavier and was chosen as the 2009 American Legion District Pitcher of the Year.
