Emilia Keenan (née Jackson) joined the Lawrence University coaching staff as the pitching coach in 2022.
A native of Kenosha, Wis., Keenan is a former standout pitcher for the Vikings. She was a two-time All-Midwest Conference selection for the Vikings, earning first-team honors in 2019 and 2021.
Keenan played four full seasons for the Vikings and was part of the four-game 2020 season, which was cut short by the pandemic. Keenan picked up 29 career victories, which ranks sixth in Lawrence history. She had her best season in 2019 when she posted 10 wins, including shutouts against the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts and Ripon College.
Keenan compiled a 3.91 career earned run average over 437 innings. She posted a career-low 3.22 earned run average in 2018.
She had a memorable start vs. rival Ripon College in 2021 as she fired a one-hitter in Lawrence's 13-0 victory.
Keenan piled up 269 strikeouts during her career, and that ranks fourth on Lawrence's career list. She posted a career-high 12 strikeouts twice, vs. D'Youville College in 2017 and vs. Beloit College in 2018. Keenan's 0.80 strikeouts per inning in 2017 ranks as the fourth-best season in school history, and she finished with 77 strikeouts that season.
Keenan also played first base for the Vikings and compiled a career .268 batting average with 11 doubles, 39 runs batted in and 24 runs scored.
A National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America Scholar Athlete, Keenan graduated from Lawrence in 2021 with a degree in instrumental music education.
Keenan and her husband, Matt, were married in 2022.
