Box Score GRINNELL, Iowa -- The Grinnell College women's basketball team pulled away in the final five minutes Saturday and posted a 69-57 Midwest Conference victory over Lawrence University at Darby Gymnasium.
Grinnell (4-5, 1-3 MWC) was clinging to a two-point lead with 5:30 left in the game when the Pioneers scored 14 consecutive points to seal the victory.
Iowa native Kenya Earl turned in a great game for the Vikings in her home state. The rookie forward posted a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Vikings (2-6, 1-2).
Lawrence's Shonell Benjamin added 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Erin Hill chipped with 10 points, and Olivia Hoesley added nine for the Vikings.
Kayla Morrissey also had a double-double for Grinnell with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Morrissey made a living at the foul line as she converted 12-of-13 from the stripe.
The Pioneers enjoyed a big advantage at the foul line as they went 22-for-33 as Lawrence was called for 26 fouls. Grinnell was whistled for only 16 fouls as Lawrence went 12-for-18 from the line.
