APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University women's soccer team dominated the game in every aspect but the score Tuesday as the Vikings posted a 1-0 Midwest Conference win over Ripon College on Ron Roberts Field at the Banta Bowl.
Lawrence (8-5-1, 2-2-0 MWC) outshot the Red Hawks 30-1 and posted an 81 to 19 percent possession advantage for the match.
  Lawrence goalkeeper
Sarah Yochem didn't have to make a save to pick up her fifth shutout of the season. Yochem spent most of the game outside the box as she exchanged passes with Lawrence defenders setting up the attack. The only thing that kept the game close on the scoreboard was the play of Ripon goalkeeper Andreanna Wilke, who made 17 saves.
The Vikings scored their lone goal at the 21:48 mark of the first half when
Natalie Linebarger's free kick from 36 yards out got over Wilke's head and into the the back of the net.
Lawrence peppered the Red Hawks (0-12-1, 0-5-0), who had packed in the defense, with shots in both halves. The Vikings had 17 shots in the opening half and 13 after the break.
Jackie Blake had seven shots, including three on goal, and
Cambrie Rickard fired off six shots, including four on goal, for the Vikings.
Ripon's only real scoring chance came in the game's final minute when the Red Hawks had their only corner kick of the contest. The ball was easily cleared away by the Lawrence defense and the final seconds ran off the clock.
Lawrence hits the road for its next contest as the Vikings travel to Grinnell College on Saturday.
