APPLETON, Wis. -- Lawrence University women's basketball star
Kenya Earl posted a double-double Saturday to lead the Vikings to a 77-57 nonconference victory over Rockford University at Alexander Gymnasium.
  Earl scored 16 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots for the Vikings (2-1). Earl went 6-for-13 from the floor and hit 4-of-5 from the foul line.
  Rookie guard
Caroline Sharpe added 14 points, five rebounds and three assists for Lawrence, and
Ashley Batac had 13 points, five rebounds, four steals and a pair of assists.
  Lawrence started slow, but the Vikings started to take control of the game late in the first quarter. Lawrence trailed 10-5 before the Vikings rattled off 12 consecutive points. Earl and
Karina Herrera had four points apiece in that run, which was capped by
Maggie Culver's jumper early in the second quarter for a 17-10 advantage.
  A basket by Rockford's Ayana Davis stopped the run, but the Vikings then scored the next six points, capped by a pair of
Mallory Meyer free throws, to go up 23-12. The Vikings would go on to lead 38-27 at the half.
  Rockford (2-1) got as close as nine points in the third quarter, but Lawrence then scored the game's next nine points, including a 3-pointer by
Lydia Lueck, to push its advantage to 49-31 with 4:41 left in the third quarter.
  Lawrence led by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, but the Regents battled back and trimmed the lead to 61-49 with 8:53 remaining in the game. Sharpe had five points in that stretch, including a big 3-pointer to get it started, and Earl added four points.
  Audrina Terhune scored 20 points to lead Rockford.
