APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team skated to a 3-3 overtime tie with Saint Mary's University on Tuesday in a nonconference game at the Appleton Ice Center.
  The Vikings rallied from a pair of one-goal deficits to force the overtime, where both teams had quality scoring chances.
  Lawrence grabbed a 1-0 lead after a delay of game penalty on the Cardinals midway through the opening period. The Vikings cashed in on the ensuing power play when
Cory Checco scored off assists from
Matt Meininger and
Zack Olen at the 10:30 mark.
  The lead didn't last long as the Cardinals (2-7-1) struck back quickly on Kasyn Kruse's goal at 12:00 to tie it at 1-1. Laudon Poellinger scored just 43 seconds later for Saint Mary's and the Cardinals led 2-1.
  The Vikings (3-4-1) bounced right back and scored at the 15:52 mark when
Oliver DeCroock scored off passes from from
Zach Lodes and
Brandon Halvorsen to make the score 2-2 after the opening period.
  Saint Mary's grabbed the lead back on Bud Winter's goal at 4:23 of the second, but the Vikings got a goal late in the period to tie it.
Will Robertson scored off passes from
Zack Olen and
Will Crull with just 1:46 left in the second to make the score 3-3.
  The score stayed that way through the third period as Lawrence goaltender
Alex Mosquera stopped 14 shots in the final period and finished with 32 saves for the game. Matt Sankner of Saint Mary's made nine saves in the third period and had 34 for the game.
  In the 3-on-3 overtime, both teams had chances as DeCroock sent a shot off the pipe for the Vikings, and Callahan Nauss did the same for the Cardinals.
