APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's basketball team put the clamps on Beloit College Wednesday and posted a 59-43 Midwest Conference victory at Alexander Gymnasium.
  The Vikings limited Beloit to 29.3 percent shooting for the game, including 23.1 percent from 3-point range. Lawrence led by as many as 27 points midway through the second half, and it took Beloit more than 28 minutes of play to pass the 20-point mark.

Brad Sendell paced Lawrence (2-3, 1-0 MWC) with 17 points as he went 6-for-11 from the floor. Sendell grabbed seven rebounds and added three assists. Backcourt mate
Brandon Danowski had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Vikings, and he chipped in with four assists.
  The Vikings also had five players with at least five points, and
Adnan Sarancic led that group with seven points.
  Mylan Walters led Beloit (2-5, 0-1) with 14 points.
  Lawrence surged ahead midway through the first half when the Vikings scored 10 consecutive points to grab a 22-9 lead with 6:31 left.
Matthew Kaznikov scored four points in that stretch and Sendell added three.
  The Vikings led 28-17 at the half and then scored the first 13 points of the second half to grab a 41-17 lead with 13:28 remaining. Danowski scored seven points in that run, which was capped with back-to-back layups from
Julian DeGuzman and Sendell.
  Lawrence stretched that lead to 46-19 before Beloit clawed back into the game. The Bucs chipped away at the advantage and trimmed the lead to 46-34 with 5:22 left, but the Vikings got four consecutive points from
Jake Fisher to build the lead back to 50-34.Â
  Beloit never got closer than 14 points the rest of the way.
  Lawrence returns to action on Saturday when the travel to Grinnell College.
