APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University men's hockey team allowed with a goal with 1:37 remaining Friday night, and that proved to be the game winner for Concordia University Wisconsin in a 3-2 Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at the Appleton Family Ice Center.
Concordia (7-10-0, 4-1-0 NCHA) took the lead on Brandon MacKinnon's goal in the final two minutes, and then held off the Vikings (2-3-0, 2-3-0) as they put an extra attacker on the ice.
Lawrence had grabbed a 2-1 lead at the 7:51 mark of the third when Charles Stewart scored on a backhander in front of the Concordia net. Will Robertson and Kyle Gierman both picked up assists on the score.
Concordia tied the game at 2-2 less than five minutes later when Luc Kreuser scored, and the Falcons then took the lead late. MacKinnon's wrist shot found the upper corner of the net for a 3-2 edge.
Lawrence pulled goaltender Brian Tallieu for the final 1:11 and put pressure on the Falcons, who were able to hang on for the win. Liam McGarva made 31 saves for Concordia, and Tallieu stopped 33 shots for the Vikings.
Lawrence took a 1-0 lead at the 16:18 mark of the first period when Vincent Dekumbis scored on a scramble in front of the net. That lead stood up until midway through the second when the Falcons tied it on Nick Guiney's goal.
