GALESBURG, Ill. --
Michael Duttlinger struck out a Lawrence University record 13 batters Tuesday as the Vikings downed Knox College 11-2 in the second game of a nonconference doubleheader at Blodgett Field.Â
Duttlinger tied the game strikeout record against just two walks over six innings to earn his second victory of the season. Duttlinger didn't allow a run and gave up just four hits. He tied the strikeout record held by two others, Chris Isley, who did it in 1965, and Kevin Kangas, who matched the mark in 2007.
Zach Lordo worked the seventh inning and struck out a batter to give the Vikings a total of 14, which matched the school record set against Beloit College in 2018.
Lawrence (6-2) pounded out 15 hits and scored in five of the seven innings.
 Â
Quinn Berglin went 4-for-4 with a double, scored three runs and drove in a run to pace Lawrence.
Elden Santana went 3-for-5 with a double and a triple, drove in three runs and scored twice.
Clayton Agler went 3-for-4 and scored three times, and
Preston Anderson was 2-for-4 with a homer, drove in three runs and scored twice.
Anderson homered to lead off the second and put the Vikings up 1-0, and
Henry Sipchen added a run-scoring single in the inning. Lawrence pushed the lead to 6-0 with four more runs in the third. After Agler singled to start the inning, Berglin and Santana followed with run-scoring doubles for a 4-0 edge.
Jake Land added a two-run double in the frame for a 6-0 advantage.
Anderson delivered a two-run single in the fourth for an 8-0 lead, and the Vikings added two more runs in the sixth. After Berglin singled, Santana followed with a run-scoring triple for a 9-0 advantage. A wild pitch brought Santana home and the lead was 10-0. The Vikings added another run in the seventh on Santana's run-scoring single.
In the opener, Knox rallied for a 13-7 victory after Lawrence had built a 7-4 lead. Knox (1-3) hit a two-run homer in the seventh to take an 8-7 lead and then added five runs in the eighth to seize control.
Lawrence had three hits in the opener, but Santana and
Stephaune Haylock drove in two runs apiece.Â
The Vikings scored six times in the third on just one hit as Lawrence took advantage of three walks, a hit batsman, an error, a balk and two stolen bases. Santana picked up a bases-loaded walk and Haylock drove in two runs on a fielder's choice. Lawrence added a run on Santana's run-scoring groundout for a 7-4 lead.
 Â
Jack Sweeney took the loss in relief for the Vikings.
Lawrence doesn't return to action until April 3 when it hosts St. Norbert College in a doubleheader.
