APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University baseball team rallied for three runs in the bottom of the ninth Saturday to claim a victory in the nightcap and pick up a nonconference doubleheader split with Cornell College at Whiting Field.
Lawrence took a wild 11-10 victory in the second game after the Rams won 14-6 in the opener.
   In the nightcap,
Mitchell Sandleback went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs for the Vikings (11-9), and
Spenser Ross,
Clayton Agler and
Stephaune Haylock all had two hits. Ross and Haylock both drove in two runs, and Agler scored a pair of runs in the nearly four-hour marathon.
Cornell (7-15) led 5-0 before Lawrence scored twice in the fourth to slice into the deficit. Sandleback and Haylock both had RBI singles in the inning to trim the lead to 5-2.
The Rams increased the lead to 7-3 when the Vikings came to back in the bottom of the sixth. Lawrence loaded the bases on a walk, a single and a bunt single before Ross drove in
Elden Santana with a single. After
Jacob Charon drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead to 7-5, a fielder's choice groundout scored Agler to trim the lead to 7-6. Sandleback and Haylock then both delivered run-scoring singles and the Vikings led 8-7.
The Vikings held that advantage until the Rams scored three times in the top of the ninth to take a 10-8 lead.
Cornell brought in Carter Kriegel, its seventh pitcher of the game, to close it out, but
Luke Miles singled to start the winning rally. After an out,
Ethan Plantz reached on an error and Agler singled to load the bases. Ross then drew a walk to score Miles, and the Vikings closed to 10-9.
Charon then lined a single down the left field line to score Plantz and Agler to close out the 11-10 victory.

Quinn Berglin pitched the ninth for Lawrence and picked up his first collegiate victory.
In the opener, the Rams led 5-0 and broke the game wide open with an eight-run fourth inning.

Zach Leslie both went 2-for-4, and Berglin scored a pair of runs.
