APPLETON, Wis. -- The Lawrence University softball team dropped a pair of Midwest Conference games to Lake Forest College on Sunday at Whiting Field.
  The Foresters won the opener 5-3 and took the nightcap 9-1 in five innings.
  In the first game, both teams finished with six hits but Lake Forest put together a four-run third inning to take the lead for good.

Amanda Karnatz went 2-for-3 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in for Lawrence.
Chapin Grumhaus smacked her first career homer for Lawrence (3-15, 2-8 MWC), and Emelia Jackson and
Shelby Johnson both had doubles as four of Lawrence's six hits went for extra bases.
  Johnson doubled to start the third and later scored on Karnatz's ground ball for a 1-0 lead. Lake Forest struck back with four runs in its half of the third and added another run in the fourth for a 5-1 lead.
  Lawrence cut the lead to 5-2 in the fifth when Jackson doubled to score Karnatz. Grumhaus then belted a homer over the left field fence in the seventh to trim the margin to 5-3.
  Jackson allowed four hits and just one earned runs over and took the loss. Maddie Webb went the distance to get the win for Lake Forest (16-4, 7-1).
  In the second game, Lake Forest scored six times with two outs in the third inning to break the game open.
  Lawrence grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first when Karnatz was hit by a pitch to start the game and later scored on
Mikayla Jeneske's single. Lake Forest scored twice in the second to take the lead and then pulled away in the third.

Ceara Larson went 2-for-3 for the Vikings, who were held to six hits.
  Jackson pitched the first three innings and took the loss. Carlie Mertz allowed six hits over five innings and got the win.
