BELOIT, Wis. -- The Lawrence University softball team saw two leads evaporate Tuesday and dropped a nonconference doubleheader at Beloit College.
Lawrence fell 4-3 in the opener and dropped a 15-7 decision in five innings in the nightcap.
  In the first game,
Ceara Larson went 3-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs for the Vikings, and
Amanda Karnatz was 3-for-4 and scored a pair of runs.Â
Lawrence grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when Karnatz and Larson both singled to get things started.
Mikayla Jeneske then delivered a run-scoring single to give the Vikings the early advantage.
The Vikings maintained that advantage until they scored two runs in the top of the seventh. After Karnatz's one-out double, Martens followed with a single and stole second. Larson then smacked a two-run double and Lawrence led 3-0.
Ella Diers struck out to open the bottom of the seventh for Beloit but advanced to first on a wild pitch. That proved to be a bad omen for the Vikings as a walk, two singles and two errors allowed Beloit to score four runs for the walk-off win.
Beloit's Maddy Pfortmiller allowed 10 hits over seven innings, struck out 15 and didn't walk a batter.
Emilia Jackson went the distance, allowed six hits, struck out six and walked two for the Vikings.
In the nightcap, Lawrence jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings. Lawrence scored four times in the first as Larson delivered a two-run single, and Jackson and
Mary Boyle both followed with sacrifice flies for a 4-0 edge. The Vikings added two more runs in the second when Jenenske doubled to score
Laney Martens, and Larson, who had walked, later came in score on a passed ball.
That lead disappeared in the third when Beloit scored nine runs on just four hits as the Vikings committed four errors in the inning. Lawrence trimmed the lead to 9-7 in the top of the fourth when Karnatz tripled and later scored on Larson's single. Beloit then struck for six runs in the fourth on just one hit as the Bucs took advantage of six walks.Â
Larson went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and three RBIs in the second game. Karnatz and Martens also scored a pair of runs for the Vikings.
Cora Aubert threw 3.1 innings of relief to get the win, and
Alyssa Sorensen took the loss in relief for the Vikings.
